Last weekend Zosienka & Rosie set up stall at the Renegade Craft Fair at the Truman Brewery in East London. Although we like to sometimes take part in designers markets, I’m not generally too interested in the craft scene. However the atmosphere at Renegade was good, with sun pouring through the skylights and pigeons dancing on the tin roof to the sounds of the resident Disc Jockey.
Sifting through all the colour and commotion, only two artists really left an impression on me. The first, Caitlin Hinshelwood, whose work I’ve admired at pop up shops in the East End for the last few years. And the second, a new discovery, Datter Industries, created and run by illustrator Kaye Blegvad.
I was unable to resist buying a tiny cupped hand pendant. Having such a scarce relationship with jewellery, this has made me realise what potential there is for an illustrator to cross the papered line.
