Clocks go back

I like this morning’s BBC illustration on the topic of time change. Sadly, I can’t find a credit.

British clocks returned to Greenwich Mean Time today. The debate is still in motion as to whether the nation wouldn’t benefit from abandoning the switch. We’re facing more evening darkness in order to avoid waking up in what feels like the middle of the night, but no change could affect the environment much more positively. It’s all about how we schedule our lives.

On the subject of clocks, there is an insightful book on cultural forms of measuring time by Jay Griffiths, “Pip Pip: A Sideways Look at Time”. I’m reading it in fragments due to the irritating nature of her delivery, however the content is fascinating.
