Last week I was introduced to Visual Editions, publishers of visual writing books.
VE are heavy experimenters, feeding challenging visual elements into familiar texts. Their most recent project has been a collaboration with Jonathan Safran Foer (the great author); a book called “Tree of Codes”. Jonathan Safran Foer cut his favourite words from his favourite novel “A Street of Crocodiles” by Bruno Schulz and rearranged them into a new story. In the meantime VE painstakingly sculpted each page of the book, carving into various sections to offer a many layered reading experience.
An interesting concept, don’t you think?
