At DesignBoom, I came across a post discussing hoof shoes.
Never in my life had I given a thought to hoof shoes and now I find myself obsessed with the idea. There have been varying degrees of ‘hoofness’ in fashion. Some quite ridiculous, as the punitive shoe trotters, some equinely inclined, as the AF Vandervorst black leather hoof boot collection (09), and some more classic, as Martin Margiela‘s split toe shoes, which have a slight hoof adaptation.
The most splendid of them all are two extravagant pairs of boots by the artist Iris Schieferstein, (although perhaps they are unwearable?) who has worked taxidermy into footwear. Climb in to the shoes of a cow.
