Madame Tutli Putli

Madame Tutli Putli is the finest stop motion puppet that has ever been. She is the star of a short film by Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski and was nominated for an Oscar (lost to equally brilliant artists at Se-ma-for).

“She travels alone, facing both the kindness and menace of strangers. As day descends into dark, she finds herself caught up in a desperate metaphysical adventure. Adrift between real and imagined worlds, Madame Tutli-Putli confronts her demons and is drawn into an undertow of mystery and suspense.”

The ground-breaking technique used in this animation, which i imagine stook great pains, is the super imposition of true human eyes onto the puppets face. These give Madame Tutli Putli an emotion that is unattainable with glass beads, no matter how well animated. And so, she is a beautiful scruff doll brought to life.

If you watch the film below, it ought to become a landmark in your life. So be prepared…
