2010 is Polska Year!

Over two hundred Polish cultural activities are taking place across Britain in the form of exhibitions, films, theatre and concerts. On the whole, Polish art has a good reputation, and the music, although it has never reached recent UK charts, spans multiple genres (reggae, jazz, classical, pop and hiphop…).

Among the most renowned figures in Polish history is the pianist and composer, Chopin, whose works will feature prominently during the festival.

It just so happens to also be his 200th birthday this year and in celebration, Breakthru Films are making an animated documentary of his musical story. During the early stages of the animation, Andrew and I pitched an animatic inspired by ~ 12 Études, Op. 25: Étude No. 2 in F Minor ~

It fell short of the final selection on the judgement that it was too tragic for a young audience. A mad over protective assumption. Perhaps you’ll disagree, but the music does tickle like gunfire.
